We’re just days away from beating each other senseless in Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7 – and now there’s a World Tour that will bring together the best players in the world!

Bandai Namco has announced that it formed a new esports partnership with the folks at Twitch to create the Tekken World Tour, one in which enables fighters to come together for a chance to clean up with over $200,000 in prizes.

Herve Hoedrt, vice president of marketing for Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, noted the following in regards to the partnership with Twitch, and the birth of the World Tour:

Tekken 7 is one of the most recognized fighting brands in the video game industry. Twitch represents the community hub for video game contents. The synergy between an incredible franchise and the home of the fighting game community offers infinite possibilities. One of these is the Tekken World Tour. The aim is to offer a thrilling experience of Tekken 7 to all fans around the world. Thanks to Twitch, now they can be part of it. This is just the beginning and we are confident that this will be an exciting journey.”

"The Fighting Game Community on Twitch features some of our platform’s most vibrant players and fans, with the Tekken World Tour created to celebrate their enthusiasm," said Richard Thiher, Program Manager, Twitch. “We’ve also witnessed how the Fighting Game genre has grown from local tournaments in arcades and living rooms to global attractions filling convention centers and stadiums. Tekken has been a major franchise and influence during this evolution. Our partnership with Bandai Namco Entertainment America for this new tournament series will help keep Fighting Games at the forefront of esports, while building toward a sustainable ecosystem for all of the players, fans, and organizers involved."

“Tekken 7 is the latest chapter from one of Bandai Namco’s marquee fighting game franchises and Twitch is home to the fighting game community; it made perfect sense for us to join forces and produce Tekken World Tour, a hard-hitting tournament series for our fans to enjoy,” said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing at Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. “Our collective goal with the Tekken World Tour is to create an unparalleled competitive tournament experience and share the bone-crushing excitement of Tekken 7 through Twitch’s social video platform so that Tekken fans around the world can enjoy and participate in the action.”

Again, the prize pool is well over $200,000, and players will be able to compete with one another based upon what region they’re in, be it the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The best competitors from each region will come together to battle in the Tekken World Tour finals.

Twitch comes into play with the tournament when it comes to live broadcasts, as all fights will be showcased to fans, serving as the exclusive streaming platform for the league.
