This week on The Invade, Matt Best was joined by Mark Horner and Matt Hempstead to hand out WWG's NA LCS and EU LCS Spring Split Awards.

Being a rookie in anything can be intimidating at times. You're seen as the new kid on the block and most of the times, expectations are kept low for you. One of those things remained true for Contractz. At just 17 years old, he's still young. After the dominant split he had in the NA LCS, his expectations are anything but low.

Contractz stormed out of the gates, dazzling everyone with his play and making it seem like he'd been on the LCS stage before. His Kha'Zix play was masterful, winning 11 out of 13 games played with Kha as his champion. He immediately found synergy with the whole team and his aggressive play style meshed well with his new team.

According to Mark Horner, the decision wasn't clear cut when it came to choosing his Rookie of the Split. "This was a hard decision to make as it really came down to two phenomenal rookies, but for me Contractz is the rookie of the 2017 spring split," said Horner. "While Akaadian was a monster picking up first blood kills early in the split, I think that Contractz ability to avoid any type of significant struggles or mistakes as a rookie to the LCS stage, was very impressive. While both had strong starts to their LCS careers, for me it was Contractz overall play and key baron steals that just pushes Contractz ahead of Akaadian for title of the best rookie of the spring split."

Horner also had high praise for the aforementioned jungler, Akaadian. "Playing the jungle role for Echo Fox Akaadian made his presence on the LCS stage known, and no I'm not just talking about this dudes biceps. Akaadian was a first blood machine for the first few weeks of the LCS. It didn't matter if it was Flyquest or TSM, Akaadian would be popping off in the jungle picking up kill after kill after kill."
