This week on The Invade, Matt Best was joined by Mark Horner and Matt Hempstead to hand out WWG's NA LCS and EU LCS Spring Split Awards.
Becoming an MVP is twofold. Statistics can take you so far and help your case, but what you do as an individual that can't be counted as 1's and 0's matters just as much. In the case of Hauntzer from Team SoloMid, he fills both of those categories admirably.
"It has got to be Hauntzer for me," said Horner when asked who his NA LCS MVP was. "Earlier this split we saw just how talented and how he can change the course of a game with his strong play on the meta tank champions," Horner said.
He also alluded to the fact that Hauntzer picked up the slack left behind by Doublelift. "Later on in the split we still saw the strong top lane play even as the meta changed, Hauntzer also picked up a large part of the TSM shot calling void left by Doublelift's absence this split," said Horner.
Hauntzer's dominance was also seen on the stat sheet. His 4.4 KDA and 149 kills were the most among all top laners. In terms of kills, Darshan was 30 kills behind Hauntzer for second in the NA LCS. Hauntzer was also involved in most of TSM's fights as he contributed to the shotcalling needs of TSM with Bjergsen. His 68.1% kill participation rate exemplifies that fact. "Hauntzer to me not only put up the numbers and performances needed to be in the MVP discussion, his role on TSM and how it has impacted their gameplay is what makes Hauntzer my 2017 Spring Split MVP."
