Rising from the Challenger scene, the Misfits would not be half the team they are today without the play and performance from their jungler, KaKAO. Originally, the team had Lamabear as their planned jungler to start the split. Things changed drastically as KaKAO, the former KT Rolster, Invictus Gaming, and Wan Yoo Dream jungler became available and overtook the starting role.
According to Matt Hempstead of Shot Callers eSports, Misfits have to attribute most of their success because of their jungler. "I'm not sure where Misfits would be without KaKAO. The organization gambled on a jungler that was once considered one of the best but had since been quiet since transferring over to China. After a stint in the LSPL, KaKAO re-emerged and apparently, he still has it," said Hempstead. KaKAO definitely has it as he dominated the jungle with a 5.2 KDA to go with a 71.4% kill participation rate.
"The team got off to a scorching 7-1 start thanks to his early aggression," said Hempstead. "Pictured as a middle of the road team entering the split, MSF has exceeded expectations largely due to the resurgence of the former KT Rolster jungler."
Hempstead also pointed out KaKAO's versatility saying, "He has winning percentages on every champion he's played with the exception of Rengar, whom he bounced back on in games 3 and 4 against Splyce to pull off the reverse sweep. Nearly the entire roster is in their first professional LCS split yet thanks to KaKAO's dedication and performance, the team is primed for a playoff push."
