This week on The Invade, Matt Best was joined by Mark Horner and Matt Hempstead to hand out WWG's NA LCS and EU LCS Spring Split Awards.
After starting the 2017 Spring Split as a substitute for Cloud9, Meteos has had quite the journey to say the least. He was first replaced by an up and coming force in the jungle, Juan "Contractz" Garcia.
For the first few weeks of the split, Contractz dominated, easing the pain for Meteos fans and making it easy for him to be forgotten. Contractz started to tail off during the end of the split but by that time, Meteos had already found a new home with Phoenix1.
What started as a loan to Phoenix1 ended up to be one of the best moves of the split for any team. Meteos immediately thrived under Phoenix1's system and started to flourish alongside Inori.
According to Mark Horner, the award had to go to Meteos. "This one without a doubt has to be the lord of the memes William "Meteos" Hartman," said Horner. "Meteos wasn't even on an LCS squad when the spring split started. Meteos eventually found a role on P1 where he fit very well and provided stability in the jungle while Inori struggled earlier this split," Horner said.
Meteos hasn't been just recognized by WWG. He's also picked up accolades from lolesports. "Meteos was strong enough in his return to the LCS stage to earn 3rd team NA LCS All Pro team honors. For me it simple, Meteos is the comeback player of the 2017 Spring Split."
Despite playing in just 19 games during the 2017 NA LCS Spring Split, Meteos put up an astounding 3.7 KDA as well as a 70.3% kill participation mark, both the second highest among all junglers.
