Aurelion Sol's Niche Playstyle No Longer Under League of Legends Microscope

A while ago League of Legends commented on how Aurelion Sol was far too niche of a champion for others to use. His unique abilities make him very hard for lets say... certain Bronzies and Silver's to just pick up and play. He's very good in higher ELO's but what happens if you get him in ARAM? You'll most likely not have a clue what to do.

Unfortunately for those wanting to get a crack at Aurelion Sol, you might have to be waiting longer according to Riot King Cobra

"I think Aurelion is low key super strong right now, but he's not in a great spot in terms of game health," said Riot King Cobra. To elaborate a bit, his play pattern of essentially mindlessly shoving midlane without interacting with his lane opponent and then disappearing to possibly gank a side lane isn't super fun to play against, his matchups are really polarizing (IhateFizz), and for a champion with such a grand thematic (EPIC SPACE DRAGON!?) he has a really small playerbase because of his super niche playstyle."

Riot King Cobra elaborates further and explains why the changes have been put on hold for now. "We were exploring ways to preserve what current Aurelion Sol players like about him while making his gameplay more interactive and less polarizing, but none of them really hit the mark and we didn't have the resources available to make something that was a true win for everybody so we decided to hold off."

That wouldn't be all from Riot King Cobra as he weighed in on what he wants to see. "Personally, I think it would be cool if he could freely fly around when using his E and shoot Starfire at people while doing a dragon typically does. HOW NEAT WOULD THAT BE?!"

Do you think Aurelion Sol needs to be changed in order for more players to use him? Let us know your thoughts over on our Facebook page!
