WWG CSGO Team Rankings 11/21/2016

  • 1 1 8 Ninjas in Pyjamas
    Last 10: 7-3 SOS: 0.574 RPI: 0.625
    95.02

The new No. 1 team in the world fought their way to the top spot by virtue of taking on the field at IEM Oakland and becoming champions. After a grueling Group B which saw NiP go 3-2, managing wins over No. 8 Cloud9, No. 16 mousesports, and No. 20 Heroic, NiP almost didn't advance out of group play after taking losses to No. 2 SK and No. 7 FaZe Clan. However as fate would have it, NiP would get revenge for the group play loss to SK, beating them 2-1 in the Grand Finals to win IEM Oakland.

    95.02
  • 2 1 3 SK Gaming
    Last 10: 6-4 SOS: 0.533 RPI: 0.616
    93.73

The era of SK Gaming being dead is certainly not a dissertation in a history book, yet. SK lost to new No. 1 NiP in the finals of IEM Oakland, but showed the world that the road to a championship still goes through them. Although they struggled a bit going 3-2 in Group B play dropping matches to No. 19 Heroic and No. 7 FaZe Clan, they did beat NiP. A run through the playoffs looked SKesque reaching the finals, but they were beaten by NiP in a BO3 that went the distance. Coldzera was the best player in the tournament, numbers-wise with a K/D of +71 and 281 total kills which lead all players.

    93.73
  • 3 2 2 Virtus.pro
    Last 10: 7-3 SOS: 0.58 RPI: 0.606
    92.24

Virtus.pro has finally fallen off its perch mostly due to its idleness and the fact that there was an epic Grand Finals match at IEM Oakland between now No. 1 Nip and No. 2 SK Gaming. The fact that these two teams played against each other on four maps was enough to drop VP down to third. The polish squad will see action this week in ECS play against GODSENT, EnVyUs, and Astralis and will then travel to Atlanta, Georgia to play in the ELeague quarterfinals where they have drawn FaZe Clan in their opener.

    92.24
  • 4 2 9 Immortals
    Last 10: 7-3 SOS: 0.508 RPI: 0.59
    89.67

The rise of the Immortals continues, moving up two spots to No. 4. The Brazilians played well in Group A, going 4-1 with wins over No. 9 Natus Vincere, No. 16 G2, No. 21 Team Liquid, and TyLoo. However, they would run into the eventual champions NiP in the Quarterfinals, going down hard 9-16, 4-16 on Dust 2 and Cobblestone, respectively. This team is one step away from saying they have arrived on the scene as an elite team. Coming off of their victory at the iBUYPOWER Masters and now placing very well in Oakland, Immortals need to continue to go deep in tournaments to solidify the perception that they are for real.

    89.67
  • 5 3 15 Team EnVyUs
    Last 10: 4-6 SOS: 0.559 RPI: 0.588
    89.34

The win loss record doesn't look great, but the teams they are playing are beating EnVyUs and everyone else, which really helps the Strength of Schedule component of the rankings. The biggest reason for the boost to the No. 5 spot has a lot to do with how No. 14 OpTic Gaming has performed which we will get to later. The Frenchmen have played eight Top 25 teams in their last eight matches, going 3-5. It doesn't get any easier this week as EnVyUs takes on Virtus.pro in ECS play.

    89.34
  • 7 4 4 FaZe Clan
    Last 10: 7-3 SOS: 0.567 RPI: 0.584
    88.66

FaZe Clan went a perfect 5-0 in the BO1's at IEM Oakland in Group B. No.1 NiP, No. 2 SK, No. 8 Cloud 9, No. 15 mousesports, and No. 19 Heroic all fell victim. However, with the bye into the Semifinals they unfortunately were matched up against No. 1 NiP who would dispatch them in a hard fought BO3 that went the distance with an aggregate round score of 44-41. Yes FaZe Clan won more rounds, but lost the match. No reason to hang their heads here as they played top-tier CS.

    88.66
  • 8 3 11 Cloud9
    Last 10: 5-5 SOS: 0.527 RPI: 0.578
    87.69

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Hold on there Chicken Little, Cloud9 is not falling from the sky, just a few spots to No. 8. After making it to the finals at the iBUYPOWER Masters tournament last weekend and losing in the finals to No. 4 Immortals, Cloud9 failed to get out of Group B at IEM Oakland. However, taking a closer look, on paper they were supposed to lose to No. 1 Nip and No. 2 SK and so all it would take is one upset in these BO1's to knock them out and that's exactly what happened when they lost to No. 7 FaZe Clan IN OVERTIME 17-19.

    87.69
  • 9 2 5 Natus Vincere
    Last 10: 4-6 SOS: 0.587 RPI: 0.577
    87.53

Remember what Chicken Little was saying earlier about Cloud9? Well, that may be the case here for Na'Vi. The addition of Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev, who is the best CS player in the world, was supposed to be the key that would open the door to greatness. Nope. In fact Na'Vi has been in a death spiral not making it out of group play at both ELeague and IEM Oakland. The question now becomes what will Na'Vi do to stop the bleeding and people are watching -- with a microscope.

    87.53
  • 10 5 18 GODSENT
    Last 10: 5-5 SOS: 0.536 RPI: 0.575
    87.15

GODSENT is on a mission from God (Blues Brothers reference). They are playing all the right teams to push themselves up the rankings and also got some quality wins this week over the likes of No. 11 fnatic and Space Soldiers. The push could get stronger this week as GODSENT prepares to play No. 3 Virtus.pro in ECS. A couple of wins here could give them a nice boost, perhaps cracking single digits.

    87.15
  • 11 7 7 Fnatic
    Last 10: 5-5 SOS: 0.572 RPI: 0.571
    86.50

Fnatic took a huge tumble this week after taking on losses to No. 6 dignitas, No. 10 GODSENT and No. 14 OpTic. The losses to Optic bounced them out of the ELeague tournament finals and now this is a team wandering the landscape once again asking themselves what went wrong. Joakim "disco doplan" Gidetun was no help during group play at Eleague with his combined -28 K/D ratio and people are wondering if taking on disco doplan was the right move.

    86.50
  • 12 1 22 Renegades
    Last 10: 5-5 SOS: 0.517 RPI: 0.569
    86.28

An idle week for the Renegades saw a one spot jump to No. 12. The Strength of Schedule metric tells us a lot about who a team is and playing No. 7 FaZe Clan and No. 4 Immortals is certainly the reason for this modest one spot improvement.

    86.28
  • 13 4 1 Astralis
    Last 10: 6-4 SOS: 0.576 RPI: 0.567
    85.88

Astralis had an incredible week at the IEM Oakland CSGO tournament going 4-1 in group play beating No. 21 Liquid, No. 9 Natus Vincere, No. 4 Immortals, and TyLoo. All this after having just qualified for the ELeague finals being held November 30 - December 3. The falling star has decided to change orbit and is shining brighter than ever. Astralis will play fnatic and Virtus.pro this week at ECS.

    85.88
  • 14 10 OpTic Gaming
    Last 10: 6-4 SOS: 0.538 RPI: 0.565
    86.57

OpTic stays right here at No. 14, but more importantly for this squad is that they qualified for the Eleague Finals after beating both No. 5 EnVyUs and No. 11 fnatic. This team has set itself up for the opportunity to play some of the heavy hitters in Counter-Strike and if they can manage some wins, could end up being a Top 10 team. This is one of the more interesting story lines of the year. Keep your eye on it.

    86.57
  • 15 5 12 mousesports
    Last 10: 1-9 SOS: 0.585 RPI: 0.565
    84.88

Mousesports literally could not beat anyone this week. Since the posting of last week's rankings they went 0-5, but in their defense played teams that are very good. Losing to No. 8 Cloud9 and No. 19 Heroic took its toll on mousesports' spot in the rankings, accounting for the five spot drop. Mousesports will have a chance to turn things around when they take on G2 and dignitas in ECS play this week.

    84.88
  • 17 2 13 Gambit Gaming
    Last 10: 7-3 SOS: 0.486 RPI: 0.548
    83.00

Gambit played in a minor tournament this week getting a 2-0 win over Space Soldiers, but right now is resting on the laurels of their winning percentage. If Gambit doesn't find a way to play more and better competition, a large drop in the rankings are in their future.

    83.00
  • 18 25 Epsilon
    Last 10: 6-4 SOS: 0.518 RPI: 0.546
    82.63

Epsilson is hovering right here at No.18 riding the coattails of No. 10 GODSENT who they have played six times in November. In ESEA play this week, Epsilon dropped a match to No. 22 Rogue 8-16, 11-16, but got a couple of wins against Space Soldiers who seems to be everyone's punching bag at the moment. This is another team that needs to find its way into higher profile leagues and matches or will be destined to live in obscurity.

    82.63
  • 19 7 16 Heroic
    Last 10: 5-5 SOS: 0.545 RPI: 0.541
    81.99

Heroic doesn't understand which metrics are used in determining a team's ability. Playing competition like 5POWER and paiN is certainly the wrong way in which to tell the algorithm how good you are. However, this isn't the only reason for the seven spot nosedive as Cloud9's own plummet has directly affected Heroic's rating because of being common opponents.

    81.99
  • 20 1 17 HellRaisers
    Last 10: 8-2 SOS: 0.548 RPI: 0.525
    79.87

HellRaisers were idle this week, but their five games against No. 10 GODSENT was enough to give this squad a one spot boost.

    79.87
  • 21 1 21 Team Liquid
    Last 10: 3-7 SOS: 0.513 RPI: 0.521
    79.47

Liquid made their way to IEM Oakland on a mission to remain relevant in the CSGO scene as a top-tier team. What actually happened was that they proved Liquid is still decidedly average. They didn't make it out of group play, losing to No. 4 Immortals, No. 13 Astralis, and No. 16 G2. Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and Nicholas "Nitr0" Cannella played well, but couldn't carry the team out of groups. Where is jdm64?

    79.47
  • 22 NA ALTERNATE aTTaX
    Last 10: 5-5 SOS: 0.517 RPI: 0.503
    77.52

Alternate was idle this week but remains in the Top 25 after qualifying for group play at ELeague and getting in some matches against the best teams in the world. On top of that, this squad does have some wins against some very good up and coming teams such as LDLC, Platinum, and iGame.com.

    77.52
  • 23 NA NRG
    Last 10: 3-7 SOS: 0.542 RPI: 0.501
    77.32

Welcome back NRG. There is no doubt that this reemergence into the Top 25 has everything to do with the fact NRG has played No. 14 OpTic five times which gives a boost to the Strength of Schedule metric. Also, let's not forget that this team took a map off of No. 8 Cloud9 earlier this month.

    77.32
  • 24 NA FlipSid3 Tactics
    Last 10: 4-6 SOS: 0.559 RPI: 0.48
    75.51

Another team finding its way back into the Top 25, FlipSid3 is riding the Strength of Schedule waves of Epsilon and Cloud9. FlipSid3 may very well be the WWG CSGO Team Rankings buoy who comes and goes under the waters of the Top 25, needing to win in order to stay afloat.

    75.51
  • 25 9 23 TyLoo
    Last 10: 3-7 SOS: 0.509 RPI: 0.479
    75.49

Oh TyLoo what have you done. We had such high hopes for you to showcase your play on American soil and tell the world you are for real. But what happened is quite the opposite. You came, you saw, you were conquered. RIP.
