Earlier today, Niantic Labs announced that Pichu, Togepi, and an unconfirmed number of other Baby Pokemon were added to Pokemon Go today, all of which could only be obtained by hatching eggs. The developer also added a special "Holiday Pikachu" wearing a Santa Hat will also appear until the end of December to celebrate the holiday season.
While Niantic declined to give details on how many Pokemon they had added, WWG can confirm that at least eight Pokemon were added via today's update. In addition to the previously announced Pichu and Togepi, Cleffa, Igglypuff, Smoochum, Elekid, and Magby were also added to the game.
Players can see the silhouettes of all the Baby Pokemon (except Togepi) by looking at the Pokedex entry for their evolved form's Pokedex entry.
Tyrogue, which evolves into either Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, or Hitmontop, does not currently appear in Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee's Pokedex entry, indicating that it has not been added to Pokemon Go yet.
In addition, Togepi's evolution button does appear when it hatches, which indicates that Togetic is also available once a player has hatched enough Togepi.
Players can obtain Cleffa and Igglybuff from 2 KM eggs, Pichu and Togepi from 5 KM eggs, and Magby, Smoochum, and Elekid from 10 KM eggs. All the Pokemon, except for Togepi, require only 25 Candies to evolve.
If you make a Baby Pokemon your Buddy, your avatar character will hold it in its arms, similar to how Misty carried Togepi in the anime.
Players have also discovered that if a player evolves a Holiday Pikachu, it will evolve into a "Holiday Raichu", complete with a Santa hat.
