Global missions are a special feature of Pokemon Sun and Moon that requires players from around the world to work together to complete a certain task and win special prizes. The game's first mission was an epic failure, as players couldn't even reach 20% of the mission's goal of catching 100 million Pokemon.
The Pokemon Company has announced details for the next global mission, which will begin tomorrow, December 27th. Players will collectively need to catch or defeat 1,000,000 Pokemon found using Pokemon Sun and Moon's Island Scan feature. Players can earn up to 4,034 Festival Coins if they participate in the mission.
Island Scans are unlocked by using the QR Code scanner 10 times. Otherwise unobtainable Pokemon can be found using the Island Scan feature, although players are limited to one Island Scan per day. If you want to know which Pokemon you'll find using the Island Scan system, be sure to check out WWG's Island Scan guide.
Pokemon Sun and Moon's new global mission should be a lot easier to beat than the first one, which would have required a massive effort by all players. It would only take 72,000 players beating an Island Scan Pokemon each day to beat the global mission within its two week window.
The mission runs from December 27th through January 9th. Players can sign up for the global mission by entering the Festival Plaza and speaking to the Global Mission coordinator within the castle.
