Over 80 new Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Go. Niantic Labs announced that over 80 new Pokemon will be added to the game later this week, all of which originally appeared in Pokemon Gold and Silver.
The new Pokemon are part of a major Pokemon Go update that includes the following:
New Evolution Items: Players can collect Evolutionary Items from PokeStops to evolve Pokemon like Porygon, Scyther, and Onix.
Gender Specific Variations: Certain Pokemon (such as Pikachu) will have different appearances depending on whether they're male or female.
New Berries: As we reported yesterday, two new berries will be added to the game. The Nanab Berry slows down a wild Pokemon's movement, while a Pinap Berry doubles the amount of Candy you'll receive for a successful catch.
New Encounters: Niantic claims that Pokemon will react in different ways when you catch them in the wild. Whether this means new attack animations or something else is still unclear. However, players will now be able to access PokeBalls and berries directly from the encounter screen.
New Avatars: Players can choose from a ton of new clothes for their avatars.
WWG will have more details about the new Pokemon Go update when it comes out later this week. You can check out some screenshots of the new update, complete with your first look at 10 of the new Pokemon in the photo gallery.
