A new update is coming to Pokemon Go, but don't expect any flashy new features or surprises. Niantic Labs announced that the new update (0.57.3 for Android and 1.27.3 on iPhones) will implement performance improvements to the game.
The update likely contains some code cleanup from last week's massive update, which added over 80 new Pokemon to the game. While there were tons of new features added, players have also noticed the game tends to freeze at startup, requiring a restart. The game also seems to use a lot more battery than before.
The timing is suspect, however, as tomorrow marks the start of the Pokemon Day event, which will add a party hat wearing Pikachu to the game for a limited time. However, it's unprecedented that Pokemon Go would add new features in consecutive weeks.
The update should hit App Stores either today or tomorrow and WWG will report on any new discoveries or surprises added to the game.
