Next weekend, Pokemon Sun and Moon players will have the opportunity to earn two more Mega Stones. Trainers who participate in the Kanto x Alola Regional Rumble Battle Competition from March 17 to March 19 will get a Pidgeotite and a Steelixite, two Mega Stones otherwise unavailable in the newest Pokemon games. The Mega Stones unlock the Mega Evolutions for Pidgeot and Steelix, two Pokemon that aren't normally obtainable in Pokemon Sun and Moon.
As the name suggests, the Kanto x Alola Battle Competition is limited to Pokemon from the Kanto and Alola Pokedexes. There are some limitations, as Mewtwo, Mew, Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, and Magearna can't be used in battle.
In order to earn the Mega Stones, players will need to participate in a minimum of three battles, although it doesn't matter whether they win or lose. Players can see the full list of rules and how register for the event on Pokemon's Global Link website.
Players who don't compete in the Battle Competition will still have an opportunity to get the Mega Stones later this year. The Pokemon Company will distribute the Stones via a Mystery Gift code, likely in either April or May.
