Pokemon Go's Easter Event - called the Eggstravaganza - is officially a go. Pokemon Go is pulling out all the stops for its newest events, which begins today at 1 PM and runs through April 20th. Although we first broke the news of the Easter Event yesterday, there's a lot more to the event than what the original rumor suggested. Here's a rundown of everything we know about the Pokemon Go Eggstravaganza:
More Pokemon Hatching from 2 KM Eggs
The big draw of the event is that Pokemon Go is temporarily expanding its 2 KM egg pool for the week to include more Pokemon. Although we don't know exactly which Pokemon will come out of eggs, the original rumor suggested that possibilities included rare Pokemon like Lapras and Snorlax (both of which usually hatch from 10 KM eggs.) WWG will provide a running list of Pokemon you can catch during the event once it starts later today.
That's not all, though. Players will also get more candies when they hatch Pokemon during the event, which means it'll be much easier to evolve and power up your newest additions.
As our report suggested yesterday, the Eggstravaganza is a double XP event. Players will get double XP for everything they do, including hatching Pokemon, spinning PokeStops, and catching Pokemon. This is the first time since last fall's Thanksgiving event that Pokemon Go has had a big double XP event, so take advantage of the nice weather and do as much as you can to get XP and level up in a hurry.
Lucky Egg Sale
Of course, there's a monetary purpose for the new Pokemon Go event, in this case a sale on Lucky Eggs. Lucky Eggs grant you double XP for 30 minutes at a time, which means that players can earn four times the XP when using a Lucky Egg during the Eggstravaganza. Pokemon Go is having a sale on Lucky Eggs, making them 50% off during the event. That means you can buy a Lucky Egg for the equivalent of $0.40, which seems like a pretty good deal.
Any Surprises In Store?
To the best of our knowledge, there won't be any surprises in the Eggstravaganza like there was in last month's Water Festival or last fall's Thanksgiving event. However, there's always the possibility that Pokemon Go will do something to surprise us, so stay tuned to WWG for more news about the Pokemon Go Eggstravaganza event when it goes live later today.
