Pokemon Go's Eggstravaganza is officially underway and it appears that it comes with a special treat for players. Players have discovered that the Gen 2 starters Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile are now hatching from 5 KM eggs. These three popular Pokemon weren't previously available to hatch in Pokemon Go, which frustrated many players who rely on eggs to collect Pokemon not typically available in their area.
As of right now, it's unclear whether the Gen 2 Starter Pokemon have been permanently added to the egg pool or if they're only able to be hatched during the event. WWG has reached out to Niantic for clarification.
While the Gen 2 Starters are at least temporarily part of the egg pool, there are still a handful of Gen 2 Pokemon that still can't be hatched. Those Pokemon include Sentret, Hoothoot, Ledyba, Spinarak, Chinchou, Marill, Hoppip, Sunkern, Murkrow, Snubbull, Teddiursa, and Houndour. While Pokemon like Ledyba, Sentret, and Spinarak were likely left out because they were "common" Pokemon, Houndour, Snubbull, and Teddiursa are all at least somewhat uncommon.
Stay tuned to WWG as we learn more about Pokemon Go's latest event, which runs until April 20th.
