A new clue is hinting that a new Pokemon Go update is on its way. Players noticed that Niantic Labs recently updated Pokemon Go's GAME MASTER file, which indicates that changes are on the way. The GAME MASTER file is what determines all the technical aspects of the game, from how much damage a move dishes out to what rewards players earn when they level up. Usually, a GAME MASTER update coincides with some sort of big change or update, although minor updates do occasionally happen.
So far, players haven't noticed any actual changes in the GAME MASTER file, so we don't know much about what's coming in the game. There's widespread speculation that Pokemon Go could address its ongoing gym problem with the new update, as multiple Niantic employees have commented on the issues in recent months.
Even if the GAME MASTER update is just a coincidence, the timing's right for a new Pokemon Go update. Niantic has promised three "major updates" before the end of this year, but has yet to deliver on one since the release of the Gen 2 Pokemon back in February. We haven't had an update in nearly a month, which is a bit long to wait for new features or functionality.
If a new update is about to be released, we should hear about it in the next couple of days. Stay tuned to WWG for more Pokemon Go news as it happens.
