Pokemon Go trainers should prepare for an explosion of Grass-type Pokemon this weekend. The popular mobile app announced that Grass-Type Pokemon will be spawning more frequently from May 5th to May 8th. No other specifics were given, but it's likely this is a Grass version of March's popular Water Festival event, in which Water Pokemon all but replaced common spawns in most areas.
Players will note that this event has a much shorter window than typical Pokemon Go events. Past events have lasted a week, but the new Grass-Type Event was specifically mentioned as lasting for a "short period of time." Whether this is a test run for future weekend events, or just a one-off event to keep fans sated while waiting for major updates promised this year.
We can't help but notice that a Grass-Type event was one of the events we theorized would happen this month. This also likely means that more events focusing on a single Type of Pokemon will take place later this year.
As usual, there could be a couple of surprises in store for Pokemon Go players during this event. WWG will keep fans posted in case any additional Shiny Pokemon or other surprises pop up when the event starts tomorrow.
