Nope, There Aren't Any Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Go's Latest Event

Earlier this week, we reported on the possibility that Niantic Labs could introduce one or more Shiny Pokemon to Pokemon Go. Niantic first introduced a Shiny Pokemon a few months ago when it added the golden Shiny Magikarp and its rage red evolution Shiny Gyarados to the game during its Water Festival.

When Pokemon Go announced its "Spring Bloom" event, it posted a pleasant picture of a sleeping Bulbasaur as a promo image. But fans freaked out, pointing out that the promo Bulbasaur had a noticeably lighter shade of green skin than what we usually see in Pokemon Go. Although at first glance it just looked like Bulbasaur was sleeping in a ray of sunlight or something, some websites and Pokemon Go fans went NUTS claiming they had found "proof" more Shiny Pokemon were on its way. We even did a rundown of all the "proof" on Thursday and pointed out that it was inconclusive at best (although, we did admit that we thought something was coming in this event.)

Well, the event has started and no one has reported on catching or even seeing a Shiny Bulbasaur. During the Water Festival, people started posting about Shiny Magikarp almost as soon as the event started, so we're confident that NO Shiny Pokemon were snuck in for the new event.

This doesn't mean that more Shiny Pokemon won't eventually get added to Pokemon Go, but they might show up a bit later than we thought. Stay tuned to WWG for more Pokemon Go news as it happens.
