Although some Pokemon games have been out for decades, some players are still finding new and inventive ways to beat the game. About six years ago, a Japanese YouTuber nicknamed Leomon started a Pokemon Ruby run using only a Shiny Magikarp. Earlier this month, Leomon finally beat the game with only the Shiny Magikarp on his team.
So how did Leomon conquer an entire region with just a Golden Magikarp? Basically, he outlasted his opponents using a ton of Potions until they ran out of PP and started to injure themselves with Struggle attacks. Leomon's handy Magikarp ended up reaching Level 75 by the time he eventually beat Hoenn's champion Steven Stone.
Of course, Leomon technically had a bit of help from other Pokemon on his journey. He also used a Mudkip, Zigzagoon, a Pelipper, and an Abra to handle HM duties during his game. Still, Leomon proved that nothing's impossible, provided you have a ton of patience, a lot of money for healing items, and a grossly overpowered Magikarp that would probably destroy the world if it ever evolved into a Gyarados.
You can check out Leomon's final 30 minutes in the video above, although please note that both the game and Leomon's commentary are entirely in Japanese.
